في صبيحة يوم الأحد جاء معتز إلى مدرسته ووجهه منتفخ ومتورم ، حتى أنه لا يكاد يبصر في عينيه ، ولحظه وصوله توجه إلى غرفة الإذاعة ، فيما ضحكات الطلاب تلاحقه وتتندر بشكله الغريب العجيب.
عندما رآه الأستاذ محمد مشرف الإذاعة قال له: ماذا حل بك يا معتز ، هل دخلت معركة حامية الوطيس مع أشرار فضائيين؟؟،،.
فقال معتز: سأخبرك بالحقيقة يا أستاذي ، إذا سمحت لي بأن ألقي على مسامع زملائي الطلبة هذه الكلمة ، التي جعلت لها (الوطن) عنواناً ، ففيها كل الحقيقة ، فوافق المعلم على طلب معتز.
وبعدما دقَّ جرس الطابور الصباحي ، اصطف الطلبة في صفوف منتظمة وأنشدوا السلام الملكي ، ثم تقدم معتز من مكبر الصوت (المايكروفون) وقال بنبرة حازمة:
أيها الطلبة الأعزاء ، هلى تعلمون أن لكل كائن حي وطناً ، وهذا الوطن هو أغلى ما يملكه ، ولهذا تراه يدافع عنه بكل ما أوتي من قوة ، ضد كل معتد ، وأرجو أن تنظروا جيداً إلى وجهي ، فيوم أمس ذهبت برحلة مع أهلي إلى غابة عجلون ، ووجدت خلية نحل على شجرة عالية ، فحاولت أن أهدمها بالحجارة ، ولكنني ما كدت أرمي حجراً ثانياً على الخلية ، حتى هجمت علي جيوش النحل ، وأشبعتني لسعاً ، وهكذا تورم وجهي ، وأخذني والدي إلى المستشفى ، وهنالك أعطاني الطبيب حقنة ضد التسمم بعدما أعطيته ، وعداً أن لا أعتدي على بيت كائن من الكائنات مرة أخرى.
وكلمة أخيرها أقولها لكم: كما نحن نحب وطننا ، فالكائنات الأخرى تحب أوطانها وتدافع عنها ، وأعترف أنني أستحق هذا التورم في وجهي ، لأني كنت معتدياً.
